WHAT THE RIVER BRINGS US IS AMAZING!
8 young people paddling 4 canoes pulled up on our flooded beach tonight and asked if they could camp in our park. They started at the head of the mighty Mississippi on September 3rd and have made it this far on their way to New Orleans. They had heard about the people on the raft and had stayed at places they had stayed. What a coincidence. They are on a quest to raise money for Haiti. Their web page is paddletohaiti.com and shows where they are camped tonight. The rafters got new hot bread and cake but these 8 only got cookies.

How fun. Do you think the river is marked like the hobos use to mark likely places for a handout? If not, maybe you should put of a sign, "River Rats Welcome"
